Kuzhi paniyaram or Paddu/GuLiyappa/Yeriyappa/Gundponglu or Gunta Ponganalu or Tulu: "appadadde" is associate Indian dish created by steaming batter employing a mould. The batter is created of black lentils and rice and is comparable in composition to the batter accustomed build idli and dosa



Ingredients:

Idli / dosa batter  - 1 Cup 

Onion - 1 medium sized 

Green chilli - 1 or 2  

Coriander leaves - few 

Ginger - 1/2 inch chopped finely

Asafoetida - a pinch

Salt - as required

For Tempering: 

Oil - 1 tsp 

Mustard - 1 tsp

Urad dhal - 1/2 tsp

Curry leaves - few 


Method:


Now heat oil in a pan, add mustard and urad dal and let them sizzle.


Add asafoetida and curry leaves and let them sizzle.


Add in green chillies, ginger and onions and saute for few mins. Add salt and mix well.


Add this into the batter and mix well.


Heat a paniyaram pan with some oil, pour ladleful of batter in each hole and cover and cook for 2 to 3 mins.


Flip over and cook.


Serve with chutney or sambar.
